Special Note: According to Gen. William Harding Carter in his 1908 book, the father and grandfather of Robert were Giles II (of Henrico) and Giles I (of Cold Aston). This is now proven false beyond all doubt. Giles of Cold Aston, England had no children, and it is separately proven that Robert of Cartersville is a son of Thomas of Goochland. It is then very likely, yet unproven, that Thomas is a previously unknown son of Giles of Henrico.
